In order of what actually helps

1. A filter that fits, changed on time. Free to fix, fixes the most.
2. A clean coil. If it's black, nothing downstream matters.
3. Sealed return ducts. A return pulling attic air pulls attic dust.
4. Humidity under 55%. Over 60 is where things grow.
5. A UV light on the coil to keep it clean between visits.
6. A whole house dehumidifier, if the readings say so.

5 inch electronic air filters

An electronic filter, also called an electrostatic air cleaner, fits in a 5 inch cabinet at the air handler. As air passes through, it gives the dust, pollen & dander a small electric charge, then catches them on charged media, the same way a balloon rubbed on your hair picks up dust. It grabs much smaller particles than a regular filter without choking the airflow, & the media gets changed about twice a year instead of every month.

Why we use the REME HALO

There are a lot of air purifiers out there. We specifically install the REME HALO because it's the only one we've seen make a real difference for allergies in our customers' homes. It sits in the supply plenum above the coil & puts out hydrogen peroxide molecules that ride the airflow into every room. They are the same molecules the air outside has after a storm. They land on dust, pollen, pet dander, mold spores, bacteria & viruses, & break them down in the air & on surfaces instead of waiting for the filter to catch them. The LED version has no bulb to change & is rated for the life of the system. For allergy houses it is the single most noticeable thing we install after a clean coil.
