What's it doing?
Running but not cooling
Usually a dirty coil, low refrigerant from a leak, or a dead capacitor outside. Running it longer won't fix it. More on this.
Water on the floor
Clogged drain line, nine times out of ten. Turn the system off so it stops overflowing. More.
Ice on the lines
Turn it off & let it thaw. Running it iced up can take out the compressor. More.
Breaker keeps tripping
Don't keep resetting it. Twice is a message. More.
Loud noise
Grinding is a bearing, buzzing with no fan is a capacitor, banging on startup is usually a loose blower. More.

Our rule of thumb: if the unit is over 10 years old & the repair is over $2,000, we'll put a replacement number next to it so you can compare. If the first number makes more sense, we'll say so. If you already have a quote from someone else, second opinions are free.
